Research and Development are key activities for The Reader Organisation. They make up a rapidly growing area of work that supports our outreach programmes and helps build a sound basis for our belief that reading can be beneficial for everyone.

One consequence of the success of the outreach work of The Reader Organisation in using serious literature as an intervention in mental health is a growing pressure from public user bodies formally to evaluate the increasing anecdotal evidence of its therapeutic efficacy.

We are currently working with the Schools of English and Medicine at the University of Liverpool, Mersey Care NHS Trust, Liverpool Primary Care Trust, Liverpool City Council.
